Analog Circuit Repair: Music Equipment

I collect and repair (mostly) analog audio equipment, including amps, mixers, pedals, and speakers. My work to date includes:

  • recapping a Marshal JCM 900 2100 to fix bulging caps
  • replacing burnt out resistors and hard-wiring burnt out pads
  • replacing blown caps on a Fender Cyber Twin
  • hard wiring burnt out pads on a vintage Ibanez delay pedal
  • soldering custom audio cables

Analog Circuit Repair: CRT TVs

I collect and repair CRT televisions. My work to date includes:

  • recapping and reflowing the main and power boards of a 2002 Panasonic CT 27sx12 to fix random shutoffs and improve colors
  • replacing the power cable of a 14" 2002 Sony Trinitron

Computer Hardware

I have been building, upgrading, and fixing computer hardware since I was 12 years old. I am most proud of my home desktop PC, a powerful machine that features water cooling with custom fitted acrylic pipe. My other projects include:

  • a workstation built for quantitative research in my graduate school lab. For this project, I sourced all of the parts given a budget restriction, and assembled the workstation myself.

  • a makeshift gaming pc put together from old hardware

Instrument Repair and Maintenance

I set up, maintain, and repair all of my own guitars. Set up includes restringing, truss rod and bridge adjustments for ideal action. Maintenance includes oiling and cleaning the fret boards, and shining the body. Guitars in my collection:

  • 1972 Gibson SG
  • 2012 Gretsch
  • ESP LTD
  • Ibanez 6-string Bass Guitar

Vehicle Repair and Maintenance

I repair cars and motorcycles. I have done mostly suspension work on crumbling old cars, but I have also done a lot of engine work, including replacing spark plugs, coils, alternators, seals, and more. For my 1999 Buick Century I:

  • replaced both lower ball joints and control arms
  • replaced both trailing arms
  • repaired brake lines
  • replaced brakes
  • installed speakers

For my 1997 Toyota 4runner I:

  • Replaced the alternator
  • Replaced the ignition coils
  • Replaced the wheel bearing assembly
  • Repaired the entire front suspension, including lower ball joints, control arms, tie rods, rack and pinion, and power steering lines.
  • Changed out the brake shoes, springs, and calipers.

Turntable Repairs

I repaired an old Sears turntable with an old, rusty needle. Replacing the needle required soldering very small wires.
